Blank-IT and Expedio are proud to support one of our local drivers in the Improved Production Racing Association of WA (IPRAWA) racing circuit.
We are providing support and computer equipment to Jamie McKinnell and his team, who are racing a Honda Integra in this series.
The car is a 1997 Honda Integra Type R. It was originally sent direct from Honda Japan to Mardi Gras Motorsport in the UK to be built into a race car to compete in various European Championships. In 2000 it raced in China and Malaysia before then coming to Australia where it has competed on most circuits across the country.
This is Jamie’s debut season in motor racing. In the first race of the season, he placed in 3rd and 2 2nd places in the 3 races at the meet.
The category of racing is Improved Production Cars or IPC (CAMS Category 3J). IPC was designed to be a cost effective way to participate in motorsport using everyday cars which are seen on our roads. Split into Under 2 Litre and Over 2 Litre cars, modifications to engines, chassis etc are allowed within a strict set of rules.
IPC has 7 race meets each year at Barbagallo Raceway and is an Australia wide category. Each State has their own Championship and competitors have the opportunity to race in the annual Australian Nationals held at a different circuit around the country each year.
We are proud to be involved with this venture and wish Jamie all the best for the current season.
UPDATE from Jamie May 2013:
With a 14 week break until the next event on 6/7 July we have been busy with the car. A new engine has gone in along with a bunch of consumables such as new brake pads, brake rotors etc. We are hopeful the new engine should give us a good increase in HP.
The Toughbook has been put to good use with the Haltech ECU in the car. We use the laptop to store the tune maps from the ECU as well as race data collected from the ECU. We also download race data from the onboard Racepak datalogger to the laptop. This allows us to analyse all parts of a lap – entry and exit speeds in corners, laptimes on each segment of the track etc.
